Mudslinging

I haven't spoken much more about the muddy fiasco in my yard lately. Primarily because there is not much to say. The bottom line is that there is a lot of mud. What was once green and lush is now sticky gooey and brown. It is a mess.

The drilling was completed yesterday, so we are closer to beginning the restoration...but it is still a time consuming and expensive process that in the short term is out of our control. Best case scenario, it will be mid August before we can sod.

This morning, at the urging of a few smart folks, we decided to make the most of it. When life hands you mud, sometimes you just have to make like a pig and wallow in it. (I am pretty sure this is not scriptural. :-)

P had to be convinced, but once in enjoyed himself immensely.

K was gung ho from beginning to end.
R was completely uninterested. The look of disdain on R's face was hysterical. His face stayed crinkled up the entire time we were muddy. He just didn't get what could possibly be fun about a mud pit. The upside was that he was able to use his clean hands to snap a few photos of the 'Mud Monsters.'

Even our sweet, old Haley dog joined in!

And, Daddy? Well, he seemed to have had the most fun of all!

Oh, I just LOVE this! My girls would have a blast in that mud pit.

And if you don't mind, I just might have to share the link to this post to all my friends who think I am crazy letting my girls cover themselves with paint when they do their art projects!

Glad I'm not the only mom out there that knows the joys of getting messy sometimes. :)

Blair- Go for it. I am not always up for a mess, but every now and then it sure is fun to 'break the rules.'
Jenny- Ditto for Mommies jumping in...not always up for it, but it THRILLS my children beyond belief when I give in.
Pam- We are installing a geothermal HVAC system but have run into numerous issues that have made it a much bigger and exceedingly messier project than expected.

Soooo fun! We just got back from a mud volleyball tournament. Like your kiddos, mine have had differing reactions. My older boys, who first came to watch when they were 4-5ish, love it. My youngest, who has been coming to watch the grownups play in the mud since he was 7 months old, won't touch it.
