Real Life

These are a few scenes from the last week or so of my life...
Those are clean...but need to be put away. Oh, what I wouldn't give for a laundry fairy!!!
This was to take care of the family of FIVE rodents I found this afternoon in the outdoor closet where I keep the dog food. If only I were funny enough to properly tell the story of the children trying to 'help' me rid the closet of the pesky friends. K and R were armed with an umbrella and a car de-icer--begging me to let them take a whack at our friends in between coos about how cute they were. P was pacing saying, "I really don't like this." I was alternating between a brave face and squeals each time one would look at me. THERE WERE FIVE OF THOSE BEADY EYED BOOGERS!!!!

Ironically (or not) my Bible study this morning was about the Proverbs 31 woman. Nowhere in there did it list dealing with rodents while your busy husband is working hard outside the home. (But my man was quite proud of me when I recounted the story tonight.)

And I am getting a cat tomorrow.
Thank goodness, he was able to break away for a few minutes to help with this tire last week.
Not included in these pictures are:
1- The car air conditioning that quit working, which when repaired led to a radio not working, which when repaired led to the air conditioning not working again.

2- The overflow refrigerator in our garage which died sometime in the last couple of days leading me to clean it out this afternoon. I am not sure I will ever cleanse my nostrils of the foul aroma--defrosted trout mixed with 2 melted gallons of last year's leftover birthday ice cream, pizza, pork chops and clorox. Disgusting!

3- The countless other 'real life' moments that happen here all the time...from dog poop on shoes to overturned garbage cans.

This is not a particularly glamorous life, but it is the one God (in His infinite grace and mercy) gave me. Truth be told there is more than enough love, laughter and thanksgiving to make it beautiful.

I can pray and ponder and plan...but the fact of the matter is, life has its stuff. Some of it is big like cancer. Some is little like frustrating and expensive maintenance issues.

My life is not magazine perfect. My attitude does not always seem spirit-led. My home, nor my days are as organized or hassle-free as I would like. I am tired. But, I love and am loved. That alone, makes it a beautiful life indeed!

Oh, Kellie! Nice reminder of proverbs 31..."She is clothed in strength and dignity...she can laugh at the days to come." I like that thought!

Oh my goodness. LIFE. UGH!

Maybe you could put your dog food in a metal trash can??.

Good for you to deal with the mice/rats. They give me the creeps!

I'm a surgery nurse in Indiana, and we often joke where the surgeon we are looking for is. I'm going to show my co-workers this post the next time we are looking for one of our docs!

Thanks for a glimpse into your blessed life! I always say "we plan and God laughs!" whenever things don't go the way I planned.
