My Little Wedding Favors

We have a built-in wine rack in our kitchen. It has about 15 spaces in it and only 4-5 bottles of wine. My husband and I do occasionally enjoy a glass of wine, but it is rare that we do so in the presence of the children. Therefore, their understanding of alcoholic beverages is extremely limited.

I was quite surprised when K spontaneously pointed to the wine rack this morning and said: "Mama, what are those things?"
"Those?"
"Yes, you need to buy more of those things for all the spaces up there."
"Those are wine bottles and we don't really need anymore because we only drink it on very special occasions. We have plenty."
"Does special occasions mean weddings, Mama?"
"Yes, it can."
"I memember a story about Jesus and his friends makin' some wine at a wedding."
"That's right."
At this point P joined the conversation. "Weddings are special occasions because people go there to get some kids."
"Hmm?"
"After you go to your wedding God gives you your kids, right?"

Childrens' perspectives are so humorous sometimes!

We're currently laughing (and cringing at the same time) a lot because our 2 1/2 year-old daughter often tells us, "when I get married, I'm going to be a mommy!"

We're trying to redirect her sense of timing a little bit. :0)

I love how P thinks. He's putting it all together his own way at such a young age. Aren't you glad you're writing these things down?

...So I got this mental picture of God with babies in a basket. Handing them out as the newlyweds left the reception. Hope there is a childseat in the limo. Thanks for a big smile today.

Read your family story everyday. Love it!!! You are such a wonderful mother! Yes, some people do get babies after their wedding. What we hope for is around 9 months AFTER the wedding.
