A Letter-B Weekend

I didn't intend to be pun-ny, but as I thought back over all of the activity of our whirlwind weekend and how to sum it up, I noticed a common thread: the letter B. Without further adieu, the Scott Weekend Round-up, sponsored by the Letter B.

We were Busy! Friday consisted of gymnastics, an elementary school carnival (where we loved being with big kids and bouncing on the inflatables,) going for ice cream with our buddies M & S, soccer practice and cheering for Jean in the Relay for Life.

Saturday morning the five of us participated in a road race for a good cause. We watched the 5kers before taking off for the one mile run/walk. The kiddos were in our triple jog stroller, but when we rounded the corner for the last 10th of a mile, they decided they wanted to run across the finish line. K is a fairly fast runner. She was not only leading the pack, but the boys got tired and started complaining. Not my competitive girl! About the time they faded back she heard the small crowd at the finish line cheering. The change that happened in her was unbelievable. A smile crossed her face unlike anything I have ever seen. She may has well have been running on a cloud and she beamed and ran her little heart out--looking from the crowd to me and back to the crowd. I was actually crying as I hugged her at the end.

We returned home after the race to visit with BeeBee, Poppy and Sydney. Because of the beautiful weather we spent the morning outside.

There was basketball,
baseball,
and bug-catching and watching (with our blonde buddy, H)
After a backyard picnic lunch and naps we went to a little league game and then to a minor league baseball game. Is it Springtime or what? I couldn't help but giggle at the ballpark when I looked around to notice K was the only girl playing with nine boys. She didn't seem bothered, so I suppose I shouldn't be either!

Today we went to Sunday School and church before a carb-filled brunch at Waffle House. Then we hit the road to Atlanta for a birthday dinner with Granddaddy.
The discovery of a fuzzy caterpillar, the kiddos named Buck, had the children riveted for half an hour (especially K). At one point she put him on a stick and said, "Mommy, if I leave him here will he become a raccoon?" (Of course, she meant cocoon, and it cracked me up!)

And these two shots of P just made my heart smile. He is a rascal! I love him to pieces.

And finally, the surest sign of a good weekend...to look in the backseat and see everyone sound asleep because they are beat! (And the sweetness of carrying my precious loves straight to bed.)

That sounds like a Busy But Blessed weekend!! The raccoon question cracked me up. How cute is that!! Your kids are just adorable!

Blessedmom- Looks can be VERY deceiving re: the clean car. I would take a picture of the floorboard except that it might cause people to scream and run away in horror! Last weekend we discovered that the foul odor in the car was coming from milk that was curdling INSIDE the car seat. It had soaked through the seat cover into the foam padding. DISGUSTING!

It's funny how parallel our lives can be ... about an hour before you I had posted about our children's pet Catapillar, Tommy, who lives in the backyard. Glad to know that's "normal" somewhere else, too. :)

LOL
Trust me I know about car seat smell. If you own a Britax, they all have those hollow sections that pool everything from milk, cookie crumbs, juice and pumpkin seeds. EEEWWWWWWWWWW!

The foam pad can be handwashed and dried per the a call to the maker last year.

We had a Mom Ride contest at my churches Mom group. No prior warning was given and when we arrived for the meeting we all got to take pictures of the inside of our cars/vans/SUV.

The winner got a six session coupon to the CarMaid Wash and Shine. The runner up got a handheld car vac. It was great ice breaker.

FABULOUS post. Always refreshing and upbeat. The kiddos are growing and I cannot believe they will be 4! Mine just turned 2 last week. Will the time always pass this fast?
