Even though we have had the highly unusual occurrence of two 'real' snows in one Georgia Winter, today was a genuine memory maker.
We went to bed last night full of anticipation and awoke to a pristine blanket of soft, wet snow. Fat fluffy flakes continued to fall for hours. By the time we went out at lunch time, our neighborhood was a true Winter wonderland.
Neighbors emerged and the fun began.
As they built forts and had a legitimate snowball fight, I couldn't help but grin. This is the stuff of childhood memories.
With comfortable temps in the 30s, we lapped up the fun for hours. As we came back in and re-engaged in 'real life' I saw a scary forecast of ice that could cripple our area. The projections vary from .25-to up to an inch of ice...and six more inches of snow.
We've been cautioned we could be without power for days...and of course, my husband is on call tomorrow and will need to be on the roads back and forth to two local hospitals. We have batteries, groceries, firewood and each other. All that is left to do is wait...

So today was joyful, memorable, adventurous today...I chose to be present rather than wrapped up in anxiety over things outside my control.
And tomorrow, well, we shall see.

I'll be thinking of you all as I watch coverage tomorrow of the coming storm, and praying for the safety of everyone who has to be on the roads. I'm so glad you had the wisdom -- and opportunity -- to do some merry-making and memory-making today! Looks like you actually had enough snow to do some real playing in!
I must add that I'm so thankful that God guided my planning last summer as I chose LAST week instead of THIS week for our family's first Disney World trip. We flew back to Louisville through Atlanta last Thursday, the 6th. Something tells me that had we planned on flying through ATL this Thursday instead, we might have been scrambling to make other arrangements...
I just love your writing and your perspective on things. My pastor husband has a favorite quote (I forget who it's from or I would give credit) that says "Be heavenly minded about earthly things." I think you do a great job of that. Thanks!

Beautiful. So often I find myself not enjoying today because I'm wrapped up in anxiety about tomorrow. I'm trying to slow down, enjoy today for the gift that it is and live in Gods adventure called life.
