Mama's Morning Prayer

Dear God,
I know today will not be perfect. There will be frustrations, inconveniences and events I did not plan for. There will be chores I am not particularly excited about doing. I will encounter people who are as distracted, weary and/or wrapped up in themselves and their own desires as I am.

BUT, I believe I can see You in the midst of it all anyway.

There will be laughter. There will be love. There will be unexpected occurrences that will be better than what I had planned.I get to choose where to place my focus.

Today I am going to focus on You instead of me. I am distracted easily, as You know, so I am going to need lots of help. Inspire me to seek You like an explorer in search of treasure.
Give me peace amidst the invariable annoyances.
Grant me gratitude for the home and family I am serving amidst the dishes, laundry and 'picking up' that never seems to end.
Make my heart one that dwells on the moments that reveal more about You. May that joy spill over to keep me buoyant during the mundane.
Lord, give me grace for the folks I am with--whether it be my family or strangers. Help me step out of myself long enough to show them kindness and love.
Make me be a woman of eternal purpose--a clean & orderly home, well-mannered children and/or completed To Do list all pass away. Your plans and purposes are the only things that really prevail.

If nothing else gets accomplished today, I pray that my heart will be different and You will get the glory.
Amen.
