A Do-Over

More often than not, you don't get the grace of a do-over. Today, however, we were able to attend our Kindergarten orientation armed with lessons learned from the new student ice cream social Tuesday night.

1. I prayed.

2. I let go of some of my expectations.

3. I took a sitter as an extra pair of hands so I could attend to each of my people individually. They each got to walk into the school as the only child holding my hand and proudly carrying their supplies. We were able to individually look for our cubbies and our desks.
Once each child was settled I went back to get the next from the sitter (waiting on the grassy play area.) It was unrushed. It was low stress. Everyone did beautifully...

Nary a tear was shed--even from Mama!
Thank you, Lord, for the ability to learn from our mistakes and try again.

Now we are off to the pool for the afternoon to enjoy a little more Summer freedom!

How wise you are to have learned from your previous experience! Like you said, it's not often that we get a do-over...and even less often that we have the wisdom to do things better the second time!

Oh, and as for the last post about the museum visit...surely that has happened before, with that fire alarm in such a "perfect" spot. Of COURSE a child is going to pull the handle when it's sitting there among everything else that's touch-able. Seriously, Museum Officials? Whose idea was that, anyway?? :-)

I LOVE that you took each child individually into their room. What a gift! If you were a parent in my classroom, I'd look forward to seeing you coming each day. Great job, JMom.

Great photos , a challenging time , with new perspectives, new goals a time full of discoveries. As a teacher ,I can really feel your anxiety, it is quite normal and I am sure you will do it great!!

Now that is grace right there! Don't you just love it? My youngest will start Kindergarten in a couple of weeks. He has always been spirited and God has altered my perspective and expectations more times than I can count. Each time I am so glad! Many, many blessings during this time of transition.
