Checking In

I didn't intend to go so many days without posting, life has just been busy! Between baseball, Beth Moore, relatives in town from Maine, celebrating Granddaddy's birthday and a slumber party with Cabell there has not been time to sit and write.  I have plenty of half-written posts in my brain, so I will likely be back with a vengeance tonight.

Until then, here's a verse Beth Moore discussed yesterday that has taken root in my heart:

"In light of all this, here's what I want you to do. .. I want you to get out there and walk—better yet, run!—on the road God called you to travel. I don't want any of you sitting around on your hands. I don't want anyone strolling off, down some path that goes nowhere. And mark that you do this with humility and discipline—not in fits and starts, but steadily, pouring yourselves out for each other in acts of love, alert at noticing differences and quick at mending fences." (Ephesians 4:1-3 The Message)

In the NIV it says..."I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love."

The passage is not new, but the challenge is huge. As John Piper puts it "Don't waste your life." I was convicted yesterday about letting the small stuff distract me and trip me up from the call I have received. I cannot be perfect. I will mess up. But grace is not an excuse for not striving to honor God with a life lived with purpose, consistency, discipline and humility for His fame and glory.

Good stuff!
