Real Life: Fridays at 5

When we were engaged I remember telling big R that I wanted our home to always be a place of peace and rest. I have used those two words to describe my homekeeping vision countless times throughout the years. Obviously, the addition of lively triplets to our home has made the accomplishment of that vision a bit more difficult.

Yesterday afternoon (Friday at 5:00) the energy level in our home was through the roof, so I opted to just let the children be silly/crazy for a while and get it out of their system. Of course, they wanted to play with the video function on my laptop so they could 'see' their silliness. For 20-30 minutes they recorded various segments of silly faces, crazy noises, screaming and outlandish tall tales about meatballs and lions. Watching them back doubled their enjoyment.

(I feel like I have to say here that it is not usually quite this wild...and you seriously may want to turn your volume down. It gives me a headache to watch it.)

As I watched this one I couldn't help but laugh at how--despite the absolute madness--I calmly walked to the back door to let my husband in, seemingly oblivious to it all. So much for welcoming him to a peaceful, restful home...

Peace and rest it is not...but laughter and love? Most definitely.

Whew! No wonder I am tired!

Precious! I never thought that we would be where we are! You know, twins and all the silliness that comes with multiples! ;)

What blessings! Praise the Lord!!!

Ha! I didn't believe you about the volume! Turned it down a wee bit and thoroughly enjoyed the show. Such life and laughter in your home! You are blessed beyond measure. (Even in decibels.)

Had to turn down the volume. You were right. I guess that makes me feel better about my crazy kids. Sharing this helps me to know I am not alone, thanks.

It is because your home is peaceful and restful that your children are so full of happy energy. Peace and rest breeds joy. I'd say you have succeeded in your goal.
