Redneck Snow Day

Like most things we beg for, my children are already 'over' the snow. We managed about 15 minutes outside today before we were all frigid and ready to return indoors. It was, however, an action-packed 15 minutes.

Thanks to a childhood memory of mine, we were able to do a little sledding--despite having NONE of the appropriate gear.

A baking pan from my kitchen cabinets worked just fine for these little fannies!

And, really, who needs snow boots when you have fabulous hot pink (light up) cowgirl boots in your closet?

My mom used to use waxed up washer lids. That was back in the 50's. Washer lids are attached a bit better now, I think. Inventive way of handling it, though!

Love the pink boots!

Oh, I think the cookie sheet and the light up boots are perfect!

How fun! I love how K is going down on her stomach -- pink boots in the air and all. Those are great pictures to capture great memories.

I remember using plastic (cafeteria-like) trays, too! I don't think I have ever commented before but you are such an inspiration. I love your writing, your honesty, and your sincere willingness to learn and encourage others. I've been a mom for nearly 17 years but have learned so much from you.

hilarious. We managed about 20 min outside today. And my 4yo wanted to drive his John Deere tractor, and then got cold and completely abandonded it in the front yard. When my husband went out to bring it in a couple hours later the tires were frozen to the ground. I was bragging on facebook today that at least this year my kids had mittens. Last year it totally did not occur to me to purchase those. But no snow boots here either. Used Thomas the Tank Engine snow boots. Fun times!

How fun!!! I'm in Indiana so we have a couple of inches of the white stuff... we have had fun sledding and snow ball fighting for the last few days!

If you don't want to use your cookie sheets next time, plastic trash can lids works well, also.
