For over a year now, P has held the career aspiration of becoming a DJ. The whole thing is hysterical to my husband and me because, to our knowledge, he has never even seen a live DJ. He did however see a quick segment on the Disney channel where the monkeys were DJs and it seemed to seal the deal for him.
Most entertaining is his perspective on what it is to be a DJ. P loves to dance (including break dancing and doing hand motions like he is scratching a record player--where did he learn this?) Any time P hears music with a dance/hip hop beat he breaks into a HUGE grin and says, "Turn it up! It's DJ music." The Fresh Beat Band has become his favorite show and hoodies his favorite item in the closet.
This photo was taken last night as we were walking into a restaurant for dinner. I don't know how to break it to him that his Hanna Andersson hoodie is not exactly thug-wear...especially since it is the closest he is going to get while I am buying his clothes!
I could hardly contain my laughter last week when we were leaving K's dance class and saw a young man in saggy jeans and a black cap and t-shirt. P could not take his eyes off of him. It was as if he was looking at a super hero in the flesh. He turned his entire body 180 degrees to examine the man from every angle as he walked by us. Then he looked at me with an expression of amazement and said in a whisper, "Mom! It was a REAL DJ."
Oh, little man, how you make me giggle!
Edited to Add: For all you other rap-lovin' preschooler mamas, this is silly, but hilarious. Thanks to Kristie for e-mailing the link! I cannot wait to show P after school.

HILARIOUS!!! hey you should look up Group 1 Crew...they love Jesus and remind me of the Black Eyed Peas a bit...they are good and would be lyrics with truth for this stage of his musical taste :)
all that comes to mind is.."Pants on the ground, pants on the ground.." It's cute now though.
So funny! My Ethan (a month younger than your trio) came up to me the other day and thumped his chest with his fist and then made a peace sign and said, "Mom, you know what that means?" Wondering where he'd suddenly picked up thug sign language, I said, "No, what?" His reply, "It means, 'I'm a bunny!'" Whewww!!!
Ok that was too cute! I love that he rocks the Hanna Anderson for his dj outfit.
So funny! My son thinks he's a rocker to and when my husband left to do mission work this summer he got his hair cut in a mohawk for fun...my son had to do the same. He's 2 with a mohawk, imagine the looks we get!! It has since outgrown but it fit him so well and I actually started to like it.
It's funny how they develop their own since of style!
That is funny! I left you an award on my blog. =)
Also - I just wanted to to say one thing about losing teeth. Once thing I realized last year as my oldest went from a baby face full of baby teeth to being toothless to now having "big" teeth is how much that face changes. It's not a bad thing, of course, but I wish I had really soaked her baby face in as much as Icould. Oh - I have pictures but it is just another reminder of how fast they are growing up!
OH --- and Group 1 Crew are great! Saw them on the Revolve Tour this last year. They would make P's day!
They were a LOT loud for me but their words are fabulous and all of the girls we took LOVED them.
We actually got to meet them. You can see it on my blog -- the post os called Revolve 09 I think.....
precious!
Hysterical! Just like G. who has decided that everyone who wears their hat turned around backwards is the "woof die" (roof guy)! Gotta love it!
If P ever makes a video, be sure to send it our way!
