We have our first loose tooth in the Scott family. A couple of days ago R told me he thought he had a wiggler. I could not find it, but last night his Daddy did. We are all pretty giddy about it, but the reaction from P & K has been absolutely precious. They are truly just as excited as R.
Last night, after a Daddy inspection confirmed R's claims, he walked out of the bathroom grinning ear to ear.
"This means you are really growing up to be a big kid, Buddy!" I exclaimed as he beamed.
P looked at him with the sweetest, parent-like look of pride and wordlessly patted him on the shoulder. I honestly think both my husband and I teared up.
A few minutes later after he brushed his teeth, P put his head down on the counter.
"What are you doing, P?" my husband asked.
"Just waiting for one of MY teeth to get loose," he replied.
We explained to P that it may still be a while. Tonight P prayed that R would lose his tooth tomorrow.
I love that (in this instance at least) it is not about competition, but the enjoyment of a shared experience. We are seriously about to be on the Tooth Fairy's payroll around here.
