P's Shiner

This morning during drop off P's teacher asked me to explain what happened to his eye. (He suffered a black eye at the hands of a little boy on the playground at our local mall Friday.) I could tell from the way she asked the question his explanation must have been entertaining.

"What did he tell you?" I asked.
"Well," Ms. Shannon replied, " I asked what was going on with his eye and he said, 'It is called a shine-a!"
She said that when asked how it happened he said, "A little boy with no pants on punched me in the face at the mall."
And as crazy as it sounds, that is exactly what happened. A three year old, partially clothed little boy sucker punched my son.

When I retold the story to my hubby, I mentioned the bully was clad in boxers. Unfamiliar with that name for underwear P said, "He WAS a boxer and he boxed me in da eye!"

UPDATED TO ADD: A couple of people asked how I handled it...and the truth is I didn't really. Unfortunately, there was a language barrier with the wild, 3 year old underwear bandit and I did not witness the exact hit. The mother was on the other side of the playground oblivious to what happened. P recovered so quickly I didn't even realize he was going to have a black eye until a few minutes later in the food court when it started swelling.

P truly handled it like a champ--and has even been somewhat proud of his 'badge.' Oh, boys...

I hope that little boy with boxes got a good spanking from his momma! If not, I might just have to drive to GA and do it myself! That hurts my heart for little P.
