Morning Motives

Each morning at 5:45 K crawls into my bed. Sometime within the next 20-30 minutes both boys also appear. It is somewhat of a race for pole position between the two of them since Daddy is already out of the bed at that point and I only have two sides.

I am not, by nature, a morning person. Ideally the children would snuggle in closely and quietly for a bit more slumber in the early morning. This is almost always NOT the case.

Some mornings, the clamoring (and poking and pulling all over my face) is more than I can handle and I climb out of bed when Daddy's alarm goes off. My early morning visitors are always disappointed when they find that the bed is empty.

A couple of mornings ago as we were all in the bed listening to the sounds of Daddy shaving in the bathroom, I asked 'Why do you guys like coming in Mommy's bed in the morning?'

K, replied, "I just love to lay here and talk with you, Mama."

It completely melted my heart. May it always be so! (And I don't plan on climbing out early much anymore!)

How sweet - I bet that did melt your heart! I know what you mean about the poking and pulling. Mine do the same thing!

Have a blessed weekend!

I feel your pain! It is excruciating to have elbows and thumbs in all kinds of soft-tissue areas. :o) Enjoy it while it lasts, though -- my two oldest sons don't do it anymore and they're only 6 and 8. Oh, wait . . . maybe that's because our 1-year old gets me up at (you guessed it!) 5:45. Sigh.

Enjoy it while you can! It is only on very rare occassions that I now end up with children in my bed. Not so long ago some of our best times were in the early morning after Daddy got up to go to work and I had two little wiggly bodies hop in with me and the cat!

Yup. You never know when the climbing in will stop. The peeling of the eyelids, because certainly you are awake regardless. The stone cold feet. The pokey toes. The noses in ears. The cold handies.

I, too, will take it for as long as my K- is willing to shell it out.
