Recommended Reading

I am really planning to keep my committment to no other books besides the Bible until I have practiced 30 days of consistent time in the Word. But, I did not want to miss the opportunity to tell you about some books recommended this weekend at the conference:

The Marketing of Evil
by David Kupelian (Author)

When the Soul Listens: Finding Rest and Direction in Contemplative Prayer
by Jan Johnson (Author)

A Marriage Without Regrets: No matter where you are or where you've been...
by Kay Arthur (Author)

And this one was recommended in the comments on my most recent KP post. I looked at the reviews on Amazon and it looks incredible!
Same Kind of Different As Me: A Modern-Day Slave, an International Art Dealer, and the Unlikely Woman Who Bound Them Together
by Ron Hall (Author), Denver Moore (Author)

I am thrilled with two consecutive mornings of quiet time. This morning's was tricky as an early riser caught me descending the stairs at 6am. Such is life!

It has only been two days and I have four books in the wings. At this rate, my Amazon Wish List is going to be huge this time next month!

P.S. One thing I have yet to mention about our weekend is that I met Melanie & Sophie (BigMama and BooMama, respectively). I have been reading both their blogs for over a year (maybe two?) so I felt like I knew them (in a weird, stalker kind of way...)

They were terrific. Even after I literally fell into Sophie's arms when I hugged her because the folding chair I put my knee in to lean over to her folded up with me in it. Ahh, the joys of being so graceful!

Anyway, Sophie & Melanie are recapping the messages from Deeper Still over at Lifeway's All Access blog. If you interested, check it out! (If for no other reason that to see a 74 year old Kay Arthur dance to Mandisa's music like she is 25!)

I ditto laura...you should definitely read Same Kind of Different as Me. Excellent book and very hard to put down. :)

I'm cracking up about you falling into Sophie's lap. I bet she thought that was hilarious. My husband and I recently moved to her area and attend church with her. She's a wonderful person!

How delightful to have discovered your blog--thank you to BooMama.

I took the Marriage Without Regrets study years ago--highly recommend. And I read Same Kind of Different as Me just a few weeks ago. It is a great God kind of story. I recommend two devotionals by Leigh McLeroy: Sacred Ordinary and The Beautiful Ache.

I read your 'journey' in life so far from the sidebar links. Yours is a God kind of story too. Thank you for sharing!

I read over at BooMama's that she saw you. That's how I found your blog through Sophie.

I have to confess the Lord has been convicting me lately about what I watch, so even though I do like Desperate Housewives I've calmed down about rushing home from church on Sunday evening to watch it. I do still watch The Office. LOL! You see, I worked in that office for 35 years. :-)
