The first 36 hours of our vacation have been action-packed. Our journey began at 7:40 yesterday morning, as we dropped our dog off at the kennel, grabbed breakfast to go and stopped by the hospital for Daddy to round. We drove 3 hours (through snow flurries) to Birmingham. Daddy supervised the children on a playdate while the Mommy attended a baby shower.
We reconvened after lunch and were back on the road. This leg of the journey seemed much longer and included a stop for dinner only 30 minutes short of our destination. It was necessary! As we walked into the crowded restaurant, P asked me in a very loud voice, "Mom, did you know I have a bottom and a p*n*s?" I have no idea why that thought struck him at that particular moment--or why he felt the need to use a voice that was audible to at least a dozen nearby patrons--except maybe God felt like the blog was getting a little boring and you guys neded a good laugh at our expense.
Twelve hours after our departure, we arrived. The children were so hyped up that bedtime was almost 2 hours later than usual. Nevertheless, they woke up bright and early this morning, ready to take on the world!
Before naptime today we had enjoyed a pirate playground, explored the beach, cruised all over in a golf cart, played on a second playground, visited the Bass Pro Shop (which included seeing a real live owl, a baby fox, and a massive fish tank). We had a great lunch, played our first-ever round of minature golf and raced in double go-karts (driven by parents, of course!)
Did I mention I did not have the camera to document any of our fun? Uggh!
On the way back to the house for rest time I asked the children what their favorite activity had been and they named every single thing we did. That, my friends, is a great day!

enjoy the beach! i hope the weather is nice for ya'll. sounds like fun already! :)
Oh, gosh. Those boys and the p*n*s comments. My two year old's Sunday School teacher was sick a couple of weeks ago and so he had to go to the three-year old class taught by the SENIOR PASTOR'S WIFE. When we picked him up, she told us (laughing all the while) that he'd asked her if Jesus has a p*n*s.
I've read your blog for a while, but only commented once or twice. Which beach are you on, if you don't mind saying? It sounds like you are not too far from where we live in NW Florida. Hope you are enjoying beautiful weather.
Funny stuff, J. I met you the other day when you were touring DLS. I teach Kg and mentioned that I read your blog. It is very inspiring, yet also very real. Thanks for allowing me a peek into your life-God is using you!
Have a blast!! We are heading to the beach next week for Spring break and I'm so ready. I'll make myself a note to remember the camera! ;)
Hugs~
