Date Your Husband

My love language is quality time. When you are married to a surgeon and have three small children that can be hard to come by, so I am so thankful for a man who knows how to speak my language!

Thanks to a very generous gift from friends, my husband and I enjoyed a fabulous Fall getaway this weekend at Barnsley Gardens. Although we were gone less than 24 hours, we managed to enjoy wonderful food, gorgeous scenery, competitive Bocce ball, champagne, fluffy robes, reading, pleasant strolls, a spa, 10 hours of uninterrupted sleep and watch an amazing football game!

I was reminded of the amazing difference a few hours away can make in a relationship. We were able to have uninterrupted conversations and simply laugh and enjoy each other. It was like dating again. We agreed this type of getaway must remain a priority. It seems the busier we get, the more "dating" slides off our radar screen. In fact, the busier we are the more we need to be making time for dates to reconnect. It is truly an investment in our family.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch our sweet sitters had to endure the wrath of Daylight Savings Time. The children woke up at 4:50 this morning...for the day. They also skipped their naps yesterday. We came home to some worn out little ones!

Although we did not knowingly plan our trip to coincide with the time change, I am making a mental note. Next year it may very well be intentional!

Good for ya'll J and R. I am so glad you are able to get that time for yourselves. It is imparative in a marraige. I would give anything to live in Ga, so I could be the nanny!!! Do not think for a minute that I would not apply!!
I love these babies, thanks for sharing them, with us. my daughter and I joke all the time, mom let's go on vacation to Ga and see the triplets and eat at Paula Deens restaurant!! Hmmmmn maybe an idea LOL!

When our children were little we took weekend getaways every 3 months. It is one of the things that's made our marriage beautiful. Now that our children are older and don't require so much time and attention, those getaways are not as crucial; but they are vital when you have little ones.

Glad you had a great time.

I could not agree with you more!!! And I'll be the first to admit that the more children you have, the harder it is to get away. Even for a quiet dinner. Glad you two had such a relaxing time.

It sounds like a wonderful time the two of you had; I'm so glad you got to enjoy it together!

When I awakened enough to squint at the clock this morning at 5:45 (that would have been 4:45 had I changed my clock last night), I thought of your little early risers and said a prayer for you. Now I see that I should have been praying -- fervently -- for your sitters! :-)

I am so jealous! I have been wanting to go to Barnsley Gardens since we moved here. Ahh - maybe someday when the kiddos get a little older and it is daylight savings weekend!

Glad you had a great time!

What a treat to get away with your husband. And to miss the AM hours following daylight savings - wow! A big bonus there!
It's truly amazing how ONE hour can throw your day completely off kilter.
