1. The word po*p is used so frequently, it doesn't even faze you. A few nights ago during dinner, P announced matter-of-factly, "Mommy, some of my food turns into po*p" then went right back to eating. I barely blinked an eye.
Last week, while cleaning up from being on the beach, I removed K's diaper and she noticed sand stuck to her bottom. Her response? "Ooooh, Mom! Look! It is sand po*p!"
2. You have guidelines in your home for when it is OK to cry, "We cry when we are sad. We cry when we are hurt. We cry when we are afraid." (And as K reminded the boys yesterday after reciting this list. "We neva, EVA crwy about pancakes!")
3. When you ask one of your children to do something and they don't respond, their sibling begins to count "1...2..."
4. The words to popular children's songs have become so jumbled you don't even remember the real words anymore. Sunday, I overheard the boys singing, "London Bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down. London Bridge is falling down, God will help us!"
5. Nightly prayers include thanking God for interesting things like swingsets, eyes, windows, monkeys, cheeks, and flamingos.
6. Your children implore you to give them something, "bery, bery new and diff'went" to eat or to do. Ahhh, Summertime!
7. You watch your offspring experience a range of emotions from anger, heartbreak, joy, frustration, hysteria and back again within a span of 3 minutes.
8. You personally experience the range of emotions described in #7 within a span of 3 minutes.
9. You have already mastered phrases you swore you'd never use "when you were a parent" like: Because I said so.
10. You are fairly certain world peace could be achieved with tickling, silly faces and ice cream.
I am loving this age...but, boy, I am exhausted at the end of the day!

For those of us with older kids, your post today sure brings us back there ~ thanks! Remembering is a lot of fun!
3 is such a fun age! You just wait...it keeps getting better...and FUNNIER if you can believe that!
Oh yes, this list looks very familiar to me. Life with a 3 year old is a lot of things, but boring isn't one of them.
Yes, 3 is all those things. So much fun. And 4? It's puppies and rainbows and unicorns jumping over the moon. I am in love with 4. :-)
I wish blogs had been popular when my children were little. Years from now you can go back and read this and relive the moments.
Yes, I have memories of moments that were special when mine were little. But writing it all down seems to make you savor every moment, even the not so pleasant ones. It's like a picture book of your life. So special. Your kids are gonna love this when they are older.
Thanks for sharing with us.

Potty talk is all the talk at our house right now - especially since we are in the middle of potty training. But you're right, I don't even bat an eye at what is talked about at the dinner table!
thanks for bringing back so many memories!!
Too funny!! I'm exhausted and I only have one 3 year old! My favorite thing that I said I would never do "when I was a parent" is lick my thumb and clean up a messy face. Sometimes a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do! Thanks for sharing with us today!
Thanks for the laugh:) You are great at these!
I loved #8:) And after reading #9 it made me think of this http://girltalk.blogs.com/girltalk/friday_funnies/index.html
Scroll down to the June 15th funny:)
I loved #5, brought tears to my eyes....just the fact that life is so simple to 3 year olds and that these simple things is all they are thankful for.
I love that children know no evil, everything and everyone is good to them... it is just too bad that it sometimes doesn't stay this way.
HELLO from Ms Jean! I am enjoying reading all about you. I kmow you had a wonderful vacation. (and it's ok Miss K, the sand will eventually wipe off of all places! I miss you and God is working really hard so I can get better and get out of this old smelly hospital and see you. We will have an extra birthday party for all of us cause I missed yours! Take good care of each other and know that God holds you in the palm of his hand and all is right with the world. Love and Kisses to each of you and Mommy and Daddy too! Love Ms Jean
Here's a few I am currently hearing alot from my 3 year old:
"I do it MYself!"
and this one that he announces to complete stangers in the grocery store:
"Chocolate milk makes my poop hard."
(he's having a tough time with constipation.ugh.)
I love your blog!
I just used the 'because I said so' today! Yes, he's 3. Thanks for the smile!
How 'bout - "you know you have three-yr-olds when you hear "WHY?" eighty gazillion quintillon times a day! *wink*"
My sweet spouse and I have said several times over the last few days that, while we know in our hearts we will miss 3 someday, right now it is hard to imagine! And there are TWO of us at home all day to deal with them, and we are exhausted, so I know you must be. Such a sweet post though...I needed it today! Thank you!
Well-said! As the mother of a 3-year-old girl, born just 2 weeks before your little ones, I'm right there with you!
As for "Because I said so?" I, too, used to think that was a rude resposne to a "why?" or "why not?" But I reconciled myself to giving that answer when I realized how much time I was spending explaining and justifying myself to someone whose head doesn't even reach my waist! :)
Thanks for painting a great word picture of this special time!
Our pastor once reminded us that "Because I said so" is Biblical. He did a whole sermon on it-great! D in NC
All I can say is YES!
and I love it...
