Little People

I suppose I should warn you that since the children's 3rd birthday is 3 weeks away, everything seems to be reminding me that they are really not babies anymore.

Earlier in the week it was the 4 freckles I discovered on R. How do freckles just appear? It was a symbolic reminder that, as countless parents have warned me, you blink your eyes and they are grown.

Friday afternoon, it was P introducing himself to big kids on that playground, "Hi. What is yo name?"

This morning, it was K coming to a crying P's aid. He was frustrated because he could not get his teddy bear slippers on. She said, "I help you, P," as she knelt down and helped him get them on.

They are asserting their unique identities in obvious ways each day. I am truly blown away by how they display their individuality, from observations about the world, concerns, preferences (my, oh my, at the preferences) to talents. My little people are little people.

As I was wrapping up this post, I was met by K hugging my legs imploring, "Hold you, Mommy." It was a nice reminder that while they are just beginning to spread their wings, it is in fact a process--and I am so blessed to be their soft place to land along the way.

Tashie- They were born 5-26-04...very close to your trio. My 40 week due date was 7-24-04, so we were 8+ weeks early.
