Last night, I had a committee meeting for a ministry called Young Life. Daddy was on call, so Annie put the children to bed. This morning, they were so excited to tell me about their adventurous night eating pizza and "makin' a big, BIG mess with our hands and the pizza."
As the chatter was dying down, R said, "Mommy, did you have fun wiff Young Life?"
I was a little shocked that he remembered that is where I was last night and responded, "Yes, I did."
"Did you give him a gween bawwoon wiff a string on it? Did he like it?" (The children are a little confused that YL is an organization, not a person. A couple of months ago, I had some green balloons in the car for an event we were having...that's where that odd association came from. Despite all my attempts to explain, they were convinced I was giving these balloons to some child named Young Life and telling him God loved him.)
I attempted an explanation of YL again. "Young Life is a place, like church is a place. Mommy & Daddy go to these meetings because we want kids to go to Young Life and learn that God loves them. Some kids don't know that. Don't you think they should know?"
R: "Yes! Mommy, I want to thank God for our cer-we-ul today." (Looks straight up into a kitchen light.) "God is in dat light--right der. God, thank you for our Kashi cer-we-ul . A-Men!"
P: (Now also staring up at the light) "God! Hey, God? Go-od..."
Me: (Holding back giggles) "God is waaay up in the sky in heaven."
P: "And God is in my heart."
Then, both boys started pulling their pajama shirts out at the neckline and looking down to their chests calling, "God? Hey, God?"

What a great way to start the day!
For you at home and for me to read this. So precious. Thank you for sharing your darling children with us here.
Awwww...how can you ever believe you aren't doing an awesome job! LOL
I don't think I have commented on your site before - although I have been reading for...hmmm...at least a month or two. But today? Just had to. As I was reading I could just picture our Father smiling down on your family. I have two sons - 5 and 3 - and there are definitely many times when their words just leave me a pile of mush.
How precious is that--looking down their shirts and talking to God! Sweet.
So precious! It is so important to teach our children about the Lord this early, and it brings a smile to me heart that your children know God...awesome parenting!
How cute! I am absolutely loving this age where my daughter is asking me lots of questions about where God is, and how can he hear everybody. Her prayers have even started including many more words than the words she has been saying since she was a baby...she thanks God for things and asks her for things. Reading your post brought tears to my eyes just as hearing my daughter thank God for her Sunday School class does.
Jen - Isn't it about time for another video so we can hear them? How about a song?
It always tickles me at how well you relay their conversations! It must be because you are spending lot-o-time with the little lots-o-Scotts!
Everything they say is precious. This talking to God is one of the cutest ever! Thanks for passing it along!
They just sound so adorable! It must be amazing to have three going through this together!!
