It's Baseball Season!

My little R has been telling me for months that he wants to grow up to be a baseball player. Now that Little League season has started, he is totally infatuated with the "big boys" who play baseball.

My good friend's 5 year old son plays coach pitch. Since we saw him at dinner in his purple uniform a few weeks ago, R has been asking when he can go see "Lindsey & the purple team play baseball." Thursday, we finally did. The children were not as into it at the field, but boy, have they talked about it since!

Many objects in our house have been turned into baseball bats, but the favorite is a recorder. Sunday, R and his Daddy had a big time "playin' baseball like Lindsey and da purple team." (using a baton, a wooden recorder and a tennis ball, because our t-ball set is still at the old house.) He even came running in, demanding that K come outside because, "I need you to be da cheerweader for me when I pway baseball, K. Come outside and say 'Go-R' for me so I can hit da ball."

When he hit the ball, he would glow as we cheered. If he missed and we cheered anyway, R would look at us very seriously and snap, "No, dat was an ALL-Most!"

He wouldn't even take his baseball cap off at naptime. Last night during prayers he thanked God for Lindsey & the purple baseball team...and so did I.

My little guy is obsessed with baseball too! Can you believe how big these kids are getting! I am in awe everyday with the things mine do and say. I am sure you are too. We are working on potty training right now...no diapers since last Wednesday. It has been hard but I am focused on the end product. Thanks for sharing this!

Go Ry-nan! Isn't it amazing how they find their "thing"?! I love how you capture the cute things that they say!

Jen, I just laughed as I remember how many times I have said, "Awwww Almost" when they missed the ball. I'm sure it's a whole lot more than they've hit it.
