The final stage of the renovation took place yesterday: refinishing hardwood floors. Since Daddy has been working hard on call, I decided to skip town with the kiddos to avoid the mess. What a great decision!
We have been enjoying a wonderful time with grandparents in Atlanta. Yesterday afternoon we fed the neighborhood geese, then had a picnic snack. "This is fun," P declared. "It is a lovely day for a picnic." (a quote from Oswald.) The remainder of the afternoon was spent on a nearby playground, then enjoying dinner followed by an outing for ice cream.
This morning we went to visit Nana (paternal great-grandmother) in her condo on the 23rd floor. As we peered out over Atlanta, K said, "Mama, I wanna go to that big city." I have tried repeatedly to explain that Atlanta is a big city, but the children seem to think it is the name of Grandmother and Granddaddy's house. Each time we pull back into their driveway the kiddos exclaim, "Look! We are back. It is A-lan-ta!"
After visiting Nana, we went to the children's museum then had lunch at the Varsity. The children are now sleeping soundly in preparation for an afternoon playdate & dinner with AM & D and I have just returned from my mandatory trip out to get some yummy sushi (not available in my town.)
Tomorrow, BeeBee & Poppy are driving up to join us for the St. Patrick's Day parade downtown before we return home. The kids are incredibly excited about the marching bands. I love seeing them have so much fun.
The kids are happy, I got to watch TV last night, caught up on my e-mail, have soft carpet under my feet and am sitting on furniture as I type. Ahhh, life is good.

That is funny about "Atlanta" being the name of the grandparents house. When we lived in Washington, the twins always wondered when we were going to See Attle---(Seattle) We're not sure what they thought an 'Attle' was, but it was very cute!
Your Atlanta story reminds me of another funny story. My sister and her husband were preparing to leave for a weekend in Atlanta to visit two other sisters for a couples weekend. My niece was crying at being left behind saying she never got to go to Atlanta with them. She'd been to Aunt Martha's and Aunt Jane's but never to "Aunt Lana's".
Atlanta is a fun city for all ages isn't it? My husband and I went there on our own years ago and the Varisty was one of our stops-right before going to watch the Braves play! Are they still "rude" when they take your order? The food is good, though! What do your kiddos think of the Varsity?
I've never been to Atlanta.
So glad you are getting settled, that always takes awhile. You'll have to share pictures of your renovations.
Glad you are finding peace amid the craziness. Love hearing about your travels with your munchkins!
too bad the weather has turned colder for the parade...i'm sure it will be fun though! sounds like some fun times in "hotlanta". i know you will be glad when you are finally all settled in your new home!
Hi, Jenn. I just ran across your blog and I am so glad that I did. My triplets will be three months tomorrow. About an hour after I delivered them, I went into respiratory distress, kidney failure among other things. I was transferred to ICU where I was intubated, put in a medically induced coma, given blood transfusions and put on dialysis. My husband was told I might not make it through the night. Fortunately, I recovered fairly quickly, but it's a pretty freaky experience to have gone through. Could I talk to you a little more about how you dealt with your near death experience and how it has affected you? I've been working through some issues and it would be nice to talk to someone who gets it. My e-mail is srathwick@cox.net if you have the time. Thanks and I look forward to reading more of your blog.
Oh, my goodness! It sounds like you all are having so much fun!! And, I totally know what you mean about finally getting to sit on furniture! I remember wanting so badly to just sit on the couch and watch TV. It sounded like heaven to me after 3 months in the rent house with only the kitchen table chairs to sit on and the computer for entertainment!!! Hope the parade is great fun!!
Your last paragraph was so funny - it really is the simple things (like sitting on some furniture!) that make life good, isn't it?!
What a whirlwind weekend - it sounds like a blast. Hope you had fun at the parade and that your house is fabulous when you get home!
Sooooo...how was the parade?? Pictures?? *wink*
