When we decided to get married in February, we pledged to each other that Valentine's Day would not be a big deal in our house...but anniversaries would be. So far, our track record reflects that committment.
9 years ago today, I did not know you. I did, however, have a blind date planned with a guy named R 2 weeks later on 2/21/98.
8 years ago today, it had been 3 weeks since I sold my house in Columbus, GA and moved to Atlanta to be closer to you while you completed residency at Emory. We broke up 6 weeks later.
7 years ago today, we were still broken up.
6 years ago today, we had just gone on our first re-date (the night before) after almost 2 years apart.
5 years ago today, we were married in a beautiful ceremony in Atlanta, surrounded by people we loved--full of hope for the future.
4 years ago today, it was snowing outside our apartment in Charlottesville, Virginia as we celebrated our first anniversary of marriage.
3 years ago today, we found out the genders of the triplets I was carrying, by virtue of our 16 week ultrasound.
2 years ago today, we were the exhausted bleary-eyed parents of 8 1/2 month old triplets. We were still recovering from the shock of all the twists and turns of life we had experienced in our 3 short years of marriage.
1 year ago today, we enjoyed a lovely candlelit dinner at a nearby resort. As we arrived, snowflakes were falling.
Today we celebrate 5 years of marriage with the closing of our "old family home" where we hope to spend at least 50 more anniversaries together. Today I am even more full of hope for the future because I have had 5 years of confirmation that you are not the man I fell in love with--you are so much more.
I am so glad you & I are in this crazy, wonderful life together!
