Encouragement from Elisabeth Elliot

"Life is full of things we can't do anything about, but which we are supposed to do something with. 'He himself endured a cross and thought nothing of its shame because of the joy.'" -Elisabeth Elliot

I have quite a few friends enduring great challenges right now. This quote from today's Elisabeth Elliot devotional jumped off the page and into my heart.

I am printing it here in case it is an encouragment to any of you in your current circumstances--and so that next time great challenges enter my life(because they will) I may be reminded of our call.

I love EE! I also get her daily devotional - she can just tell it like nobody else. Thank you for sharing this - I loved that she said she was asked to share the struggles of widowhood, and declined. Her outlook is always priceless, what a treasure she truly is. oxoxox

Wow, I needed to hear that today! I finally found your blog about a week ago and have been engrossed in it ever since! I sent you an email on your yahoo account, just checking in. We are coming to look at houses in 2 weeks, and are very exicted. I can't wait for the girls to play with the triplets!

Oh, I already knew I liked you, but this is the icing on the cake--EE is my all-time, hands-down favorite. I can't wait to meet her someday!!

Life with A is teaching me that we will all face challenges, whether now or later. Our attitude about them will determine whether we make it with grace or not. Thank you for posting this.

Your post today encouraged me, too. I often have to remind myself that Jesus is my example, who endured the cross because of the joy set before Him. I certainly will be looking at some of my circumstances differently in light of this quote from EE. (There are a couple BIG things in my life right now which fit in the "can't do anything about" category, and while I am frustrated, I continue to seek God's will and know it will be for His glory, ultimately!
