I Love This Age

Seriously. The last month has brought so many fun changes in my little people. As they have learned to express themselves they have absolutely stolen my heart more and more each day. (Is this POSSIBLE??)

Examples:
1. This morning, K found a hairclip of mine in the bathroom and brought it to me. "Wear it, Mommy." I squatted down next to her & quickly put it in my hair. She said, "Stand up, Mommy." Istood up and then teasingly said, "Now what?" She then looked up at me and said, "Mommy, You BEE-U-ti-fUL." She said it very slowly & seriously. She signed the word beautiful as she said it for extra dramatic effect. It ranks in the top couple of compliments I have ever received. A friend of mine at Bible Study told me this morning to write this down and savor it so that when she is 15 and thinks I'm ridiculous I can remember there was a time when she thought her disheveled, pajama-ed, pre-coffee Mommy was the best.

2. At lunch today I said, "Who loves you, R?" (This is a game they love to play where they each get asked this over and over with "Who else loves you?") Usually we go through all the family members and close friends. This little game fills them up! They giggle as they mention each additional person...the list now includes teachers, classmates, the housekeeper, etc. Anyway, R's first 2 answers were Mommy & Daddy. Generally siblings come next, but when I asked "Who else loves R?" he said, "Je-sus!"

3. Yesterday afternoon, we were playing red light green light. P suddenly shouted "Purple light!" I said, "Red means stop. Green means go. What does Purple mean?" He grinned and said, "Purple, be silly! (sounds like siw-wee)" and stuck out his tongue.

Can I please freeze them????

Oh I just love it when they remember (or realize) that Jesus loves them so much too!

Wow! The name certainly fits. You could have named your blog, "Lots of Scotts All at Once!"

I read your profile story. How terrifying. Such a close call would wake anyone up to the fact that we are not guaranteed tomorrow.

Thank you so much for participating. I'm getting a big kick out of reading all these blog name explanations.

I don't know how to type that sound you make when you clutch your heart and shut your eyes. That is SO sweet. I bought a journal to start "hard-copy" blogging too. Just for moments like these! :)

That was soooo hilarious and sweeet, Jenmom...
I always love visiting your blog and read all your stories about them. They're so precious.

You're very lucky to have them. They're also so very lucky to have you...
I bet those creative ideas come from YOU.

What about reading time, dear? Got any "problems" already? Can't wait to hear your story...

Your post really makes my day!

Kisses to Kate, Ryland, and Parker.......

Yes, there are many moments at the younger ages when we want to freeze them. Thankfully, mine are 8 and 10 and I've had some of those moments at these ages too. Your children are precious and I'm so glad you share these adorable stories with us.

Jen - That is the reason I started a blog - where I could write down all of these wonderful things the kids do. I wish I had started it years earlier - of course that wouldn't have worked for everyone.

As for the T-shirt transfers, you can buy them at Wal Mart, Office Depot, Staples or just all kinds of places that sell labels. They are by Avery (label makers). There are 12 full sheets in there, so you can print off several things on one transfer. The 3 shirts I did for Sophie didn't even take up one page. Just make sure your image is reversed before you print it or it's just trash (said the voice of experience) -- Then you just cut around them and iron them on. They are really cheap when compared with buying them pre-made.
