Not Yet...

I must admit that it's with lots of relief I report the trio does not yet seem ready for the potty. There's been no action in 48 hours despite numerous attempts, LOTS of nakedness & the promise of gobs of M&Ms.

I posted my dilemma to my regional triplet & quads club and received close to 15 responses from Moms who have "been there & done that" with multiples. The majority opinion can be summed up by this quote:

"I want to paint a realistic picture without sounding too discouraging...My kids, too, showed an interest in the potty with some successes around two years old. How exciting it was! However, the novelty soon wears off for them. More importantly, their ability to "hold it just a minute" while you are shopping in WalMart just isn't there. Their ability to "go now" before we load up into the car isn't there yet either. Switching back and forth between pullups/diapers and underwear with plastic pants confuses the heck out of them and prolongs the process. Wait, be patient...eat the M&Ms and put the panties away. "

That's my kind of advice! So with a tummy full of M&Ms, I happily packed up the potties until we are a little more ready.

That is a wonderful Idea, just enjoy those precious babies, dont rush it, because it will be in there timing anyway, just enjoy and dont rush it. Personally I am an older mother and they are to young yet. I love the flag that was so cleaver.
If you see this could you read my little post on my site titled so sad? We need to all pray for this young family. Thanks

I think you'll be glad you waited when the time comes that they are really ready. It made a huge difference for us! Until then, enjoy your M&Ms....

smart woman. At this age, you wouldnt' be training them so much as they would be training you.

Jennifer, I didn't even try to PT Caiden until he was well over 2 1/2. And it worked, rather quickly. From what I've read, children under 2 aren't potty-trained, their parents are--meaning they're the ones who put their kids on the potty, wipe them, etc. Personally, I wanted Caiden to do the whole deal himself. Without my help. By the time he was 3, there were no accidents, and he rarely needed my help.

Three in diapers isn't fun (Having two in diapers myself sure isn't!), but it's easier than dealing with accidents from sunup to sundown! When they're really ready, you'll know it.

Congrats on throwing in the toilet paper:)

My experience...only had twins(the last of five)..but when one did it..the other followed behind by a day..They were right around 2...My theory was..they would not graduate from high school wearing the nappies..
They didn't. I was right.

I think all of us moms do this with our first child, you with your first BATCH! Although I was going to be really impressed if you had three potty trained so young. Josiah was fully potty trained at three and he has done great. But I did try before when he turned two and it was a total mistake. YOu never know though, all kids are different! Yours will probably do it quicker because they have the peer pressure from each other.

Sad, but still that's excellent advice.
