A certain child of mine has been caught twice this week
closing his door after lights out and reading for two hours despite being
told it was time to sleep. We absolutely support reading, but not being
sneaky, so, I asked him to write sentences about why sneakiness was a
bad choice.
When he handed the paper to me, it was all I could do to stifle my giggles. His last two answers completely crack me up--but, wow, they are full of truth. I wonder if there is a 12 step program for this?
I especially appreciate his grasp of vocabulary and
sentence structure. (An upside to all that sneaky reading, I suppose.)
Eight year olds are awesome.
P.S. Watched an awesome video message on parenting yesterday by Andy & Sandra Stanley. Chock full of terrific nuggets of truth & perspective! (Make sure to select part #5--orange boxes on the bottom left under the video player at the link)

Cute! I am a former teacher and agree that his vocabulary and sentence structure are excellent. Link is not working for the video and I need some help with Miss Sassy Pants.
That is too cute!
Thank you so much for the link! (I just copied and pasted into the browser and removed the parenthesis.) That was so amazing. I read your blog everyday and am so encouraged by it each time. Thank you so much for sharing your heart with us.
I want to also thank you for posting that link! It is a very rare occasion for me to be in our house alone (usually my husband works from our home) but this morning I am in a quiet house and I feel so refreshed and educated after watching that video. Have a great weekend!
