Weekend Roundup

Is it just me or is this a CRAZY busy time of year?

Saturday was spent enjoying the sunshine between the soccer field  and the baseball diamond.

As luck would have it, my husband was on call, so he was frequently seen fielding calls from the dug out and/or the sidelines in his scrubs. I REALLY hope my children grow to appreciate and remember the tremendous lengths he went to in order to be as present as possible for them.
He is a very good Daddy.

Sunday afternoon was dedicated to K & R's triathlon. They have been training 2-3 times a week for the last month. It was so much fun to see them compete.

It is still amusing to me that our kids have done 2-3 of these events since neither my husband nor I compete in the adult versions. But, the atmosphere is awesome and the kids LOVE having the challenge and the cheers. Who knows, maybe before I turn 40 I will challenge myself to tri. Maybe...

I confess it was a weekend where I worried about P feeling left out. By his own choice, he is only participating in Kung Fu right now. He tests for his blue belt later this month. We will all travel with him to Atlanta for support during his test, but in the meantime P has spent much of the Spring as a sideline staple at his sibling's events. As long as he has a good read, he doesn't seem to mind one bit.
And judging by the scene when we arrived home from the triathlon and worked to get the bikes put away, he still feels very much like an integral part of Team Scott.

They were absolutely convinced, by the way, that this method of reaching the bikes was going to work. As my friend, Noreen remarked: "fearless optimism."

Carol- THANK YOU!! Can't wait to watch. He is definitely an introvert in a family full of extroverts! I need all the help I can get in how to understand, love & value him without trying to make him something he is not.

J - I hope that the triathlon bug bites you, too. Although I haven't done one in a few years - they really are so much fun.

You've got to just tri!!! :)

As a 40-something introvert, I highly recommend the book _The Introvert Advantage_. There's also a new-ish book I haven't read on Introverts in the Church.

I was the side-lines book reader in our family. I distinctly remember the one time our family went to a minor league baseball game - not b/c of the game but b/c I read the biography of George Beverly Shea.

I love P with his book, so sweet! Can't wait to see his Kung Fu pics. Lol at the triathlon, I feel the same way (about maybe committing). Good job R and K with their hard work!!
