My Summer Prayer

We sang the song below in church recently and the lyrics spoke to exactly how my heart is feeling. I am ready to grow in Him. I am thrilled for the opportunity to take a break from the pace of life (being ruled by my MomAgenda) and focus on what really matters.

Already it has begun--with weeding the overgrown garden of my heart--a humbling, uncomfortable process that I trust will yield new blossoms of growth.

This song is actually based on an old hymn written by Charles Wesley & music by Mozart (for that version see this website). We sang it to the updated arrangement from Indelible Grace Music.

Jesus, cast a look on me;
Give me sweet simplicity;
Make me poor, and keep me low,
Seeking only Thee to know.

All that feeds my busy pride,
Cast it evermore aside;
Bid my will to Thine submit,
Lay me humbly at Thy feet.

Make me like a little child,
Of my strength and wisdom spoiled;
Seeing only in Thy light,
Walking only in Thy might;

Leaning on Thy loving breast,
Where a weary soul may rest;
Feeling well the peace of God
Flowing from Thy precious blood.

In this posture let me live,
And hosannas daily give;
In this temper let me die,
And hosannas ever cry.
(lyrics by John Berridge/Music by Matthew Perryman Jones)
