Happy

I was driving down the interstate Sunday under a crystal blue sky with music playing from my ipod and healthy, content children in the back seat when it occurred to me: I am happy.

When I freeze frame in this moment--not looking back at what has been or forward at the mystery of what the future holds---it is good.

Why is it so foreign to just BE in the place God has put us? We allow ourselves to get tangled up in the rear view mirror of regret, shame, has been and what might have beens or we trip over our own two feet by looking too far ahead to what may or may not come true for us. Both views serve only to rob us of our joy in the here and now. Let's just BE HERE...today...now.

His grace is sufficient for this place. We cannot change what has been or see with certainty what the future may hold. We CAN be fully present in our todays.

It is not easy. It takes focus. It takes prayer. It is worth it.

It's such a great feeling, to be present in the moment. It sounds so simple, but its not easy. Our daily lives are filled with hussle and bussle, over lots of sometimes unimportant things. And our minds wander, to the past and to the future. I'm "studying" this topic right now..Living with purpose, living mindfully. If you have any further advice, please share!

Hi! I have been a reader for awhile but have never commented. During some quiet time tonight, God has put this same thought on my heart. For a worrier like me, it is hard. But what joy there is when we can just enjoy the place God has us at right now! Your blog is so uplifting and I always look for a new post! :)

Reminds me of something we've been talking about in my small group. God's presence is in the PRESENT! So that's where I want to be!

Thinking about these things too....trying to choose contentment even on the tough days. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the reminder! I love your blog by the way, I've been following Amy Beth for a few months and then followed her link to you. I love how you find God in your everyday events, it's so inspiring!
