Sweet Summertime

What is one to say about June, the time of perfect young summer, the fulfillment of the promise of the earlier months, and with as yet no sign to remind one that its fresh young beauty will ever fade. ~Gertrude Jekyll

Summer afternoon - summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language. ~Henry James

In summer, the song sings itself. ~William Carlos Williams

Summer is the time when one sheds one's tensions with one's clothes, and the right kind of day is jeweled balm for the battered spirit. A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief that all's right with the world. ~Ada Louise Huxtable

Oh I love this! The pictures are precious, and the quotes- mmm mmm mmm. Just beautiful. Have you ever read Plantation by Dorothea Benton Frank? If you haven't read it this summer- it's a great Southern summer read- I'm re-reading it right now because the sequel comes out in a couple of weeks- but it is beautiful and your pictures are reminiscent of it.

I'm looking at these pictures and I can't help but think, "Look at those once two and three pound preemies, JUMPING off a BOAT in to a LAKE."

Of course, I think the same thing when I see my once 10-week preemies riding their bikes and doing perfectly normal childhood things. But wow ... isn't it incredible how far they've come?

Amazing. Wonderful. Beautiful!!
