All Aboard

We are a party of five on an overnight train to DC...so far so good. We had a late dinner in the dining car and are now settling on for a little sleep (hopefully lots).

I knew this would either be a grand adventure or an epic failure. (That's why we are flying back...just in case.) I am pleased to report it appears to be a thrilling experience for the trio, which makes it really fun for their parents too.

Memory making in progress!

Well played Mom! What a great idea- they will remember it forever. I rode on a train to Kentucky when I was in second grade and had the time of my life...and we didn't even get to see the dining car!

I'm so glad to know the train ride with your trio is going well. I'm taking my boys (8, 6 & 5) on an Amtrak from Chicago to Portland this summer. It sounds fun and we're excited, but I'm still a little nervous about being on a train with them for 45 hours one way! Hopefully it'll go well for us too.

J-you are so wise. You think of things that I would never have thought of. For me it would have been an "epic failure" but we would be forced to do it again on the way home. You are so prepared for anything. Impressed you have the time and mind to be so organized! :)

Not much credit due here! My friend Laurie thought of the train part...hubby& I together thought of the airplane back up!

We are still on the train but closing in on Northern Virginia. Wish my phone would let me post pics!

This was definitely a win!!

So glad you're in DC! I live very close- in Alexandria, VA.

Enjoy the zoo! I've been here 3 years and haven't been yet. The weather is supposed to be nice the rest of the week.

Have a wonderful trip!!
