Seek Him

A friend of mine sent this to us with an Advent devotional and I nodded and 'hmmmed' several times as I read it. It was immediately placed on my refrigerator as a poignant reminder of what really matters this season.

One translation (NIV) renders Hebrews 11:6: "God rewards those who earnestly seek Him."
I like the King James translation:
"He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him."

Be diligent in your search.
Be hungry in your quest, relentless in your pilgrimage.
Step away from puny pursuits of possessions and positions,
and seek your King.
Don't be satisfied with angels.
Don't be content with stars in the sky.
Seek Him out as the shepherds did.
Long for Him as Simeon did.
Worship Him as the wise men did.
Do like John and Andrew: Ask for His address.
Do as Matthew: Invite Jesus into your house.
Imitate Zacchaeus. Risk whatever it takes to see Christ."
-from Just Like Jesus by Max Lucado

Isn't that beautiful and compelling? What a worthwhile challenge!

Happy Advent.

Yes, I love that. I think it will have to go on my fridge as well. God bless you and your heart.

Love it! Thank you for sharing the links to the Advent devotions. We started them tonight with our 22 month old son. It was such a sweet time of listening to my husband read scripture while watching our son color a tree stump and branch. Thank you for always encouraging me in my role as a mother (Hebrews 10:24).

Beautiful. Copying it for our fridge, too. : )
