The older P gets, however, the more I am amazed at the depth of his thinking and understanding. Even though he often seems to be doing his own thing, he is remarkably tuned in to what is going on around him. Although silly and quirky on the outside, he has a gentle, thoughtful spirit on the inside.
A couple of days ago I approached him playing outside and said playfully, "What do you know, P?"
I intended it as a superficial greeting. You can imagine the awww-factor when he looked up and responded, "I know that you love me."
And then Sunday night during our little pre-bedtime devotion, as we talked about Solomon's wisdom, I asked the children what they would ask God for if He told them they could have any one thing they requested.
P responded, "I would just ask Him for Him."
Seriously? How many grown ups would respond that way?
I was especially astounded by his depth when my other two responded with very age-appropriate requests of "some of that gum with the prize inside" and "a mama pony who has some baby ponies in her tummy."
I love, love, love watching the way God is working out different stories in my children's lives in different ways.

Aw, P sounds like such a sweet little boy :)
"I know that you love me". I know that he is PRECIOUS!
Precious, precious boy. I hope that he and our little "long distance" guy will get a chance to become friends this year!
P DEFINITELY stands for Precious. :-)
WOW! I'm so glad I stopped by tonight. This made me cry -twice. The first time I read it. And then again, when I read it to my husband! Thank you for sharing this! God Bless you and your family!
P sounds a lot like my J who has always been coming up with insightful things since he was like 4. My J is 12 now.
