Closets

Because this is the first full week I have had home alone since the children returned to school, I have dived into projects around the house that have been on my list for months. The game closet outside our family room was at the top of my list. With a six armed octopus accessing it at will all Summer, it was a disaster. I set to work and found that 30 minutes into the project, I had even more of a mess on my hands. In order to get everything in its place, I needed to remove almost all of its contents. As it spilled over into the family room, I wondered what I had gotten into. It had to get worse before it could get better.
In removing the clutter, I was able to clean out the garbage, salvage long lost treasures and reorganize things into a more efficient, usable space.

And there in my 2 hours of closet cleaning, I found another great treasure: a lesson about the housekeeping God often has to do in my heart. I thought of how often it seems things get messier before they get cleaned up.

Lord, give me the strength to trust you and the way you work in our lives. Even when it seems like things are being torn apart instead of rebuilt...remind us that this is often what is necessary. You are our Creator and our Sustainer. You know what we need to accomplish the purpose You have for our lives. Help us to trust You.

Love this! Look at your mighty organizational skills. I just know we would be bffs if we knew each other! Doesn't it feel good to complete a project like this. Way to go!

Looks great. I need to clean closets around here soooo bad!

When I saw this, I thought of this post I wrote about my friend with triplets and her tiny closet office. Thought you would get a kick out of it: http://www.livinglocurto.com/index.php/2009/02/home-office-in-a-closet/
