To the Father of My Children

You carry more responsibility on your shoulders than most anyone else I know. On a clinic day you care for approximately 50 people. Your average work day involves at least 12 hours away from home...sometimes far more. When you are home we are often at the mercy of your pager. It is not unusual to hear talk of pus, drainage or 'poop' from your end of the phone. Additionally, there are charts to dictate, medical records to sign, research articles to be read. Every now and then as we are driving along and you stare off into space I ask what you are thinking about. You almost always reply, "a patient."

And yet, somehow, you give us everything you have to give and more. It is unbelievable to me how incredibly patient and kind you are even when you haven't had sleep in days. We are never treated like extra burdens or items on your endless to do list. Our children know how you delight in them. I feel completely honored and respected by you as well.

You are consistent, patient, kind, loving, faithful, edifying and have a true, precious servant's heart.

I am so thankful that our children get to grow up with you as their model of manhood. You are a chivalrous Southern gentleman who loves and honors God with your life. We love you, respect you and appreciate you more than you can ever know.

You are a treasure. Happy Father's Day!

What a beautiful tribute to you husband. As always, I'm overwhelmed with emotion when I read of a family, so totally in love with each other, and with the Lord Jesus. Blessings to all of you. May your 'light' continue to shine to all you touch with your busy, productive lives!
