Remembering

I have been cleaning and reorganizing my home office for days. Today I came across a file folder called "Dad's Old Pictures of Babies" and inside I found a disk with pictures from our time in the NICU.

A virus attacked our hard drive a couple of years ago and deleted the first 18 months worth of pictures from their lives. Because I was so sick during the first week or so after the children were born, I missed the most critical days of their NICU experience. As I looked back over these pictures this afternoon hot tears streamed down my face.

It is so easy to forget how very far we have come.
Thank you, Lord. Forgive me for how often I take my family's health for granted. I am so thankful for all you have done.

To God be the glory!

We still have our former preemie's bili-light "sunglasses," and of course one of the tiny little 2-ounce bottles. I wish I had kept one of the little diapers that we had to fold down to fit her! I did at least think to trace the first clothing she ever outgrew and put that in her baby book. It's amazing how we have all grown since that time!

I remember doing the size comparison with our NICU preemie, too. We compared a penny to his hospital ankle bracelet.

Thank you, Lord indeed!

Wow! I remember the tiny bottles I used to help feed my twin baby cousins...it seems impossible now but they could just take an ounce or two at a time! How quickly things change...

Your blog has been so helpful to me, to see the growth your children have made is wonderful!! My son is still in the NICU and I began blogging to find hope in others who have been in life changing situations. I too coded the day after my son was born, i had pulmonary edema and the fluid rushed to my lungs. I was in a coma for days b-4 seeing my miracle! Thanks for sharing your story!!!! Jessica
