A Roadtrip...

I just returned from a terrific evening with Emmy, Wendy, Joni, Randi and Suzy (sorry, she has no blog!) I am too tired to update now, but it was a fun event with great worship music and inspiring words from a special guest with great hair. I even got to hug Sophie and Melanie! Did I mention that it was FREE?

I have to admit that I was exhausted after a long weekend of family, friends and event and after event. I was in one of those strange funks where despite all of the amazing talent and energy from Travis Cottrell and friends, I just couldn't quite get in a good worship groove. Suddenly the guilt set in. As I was praying about what my problem might be, Beth Moore stepped on stage and spoke straight to my heart about what authentic worship looks like. She spoke of coming just as you are and being free to be, with no pretense. It was balm for my guilty soul!

The most amazing part of the evening (aside from being with terrific friends) was watching a young father sitting next to me with his newborn. Amidst all the noise and music he was lost in his adoration of his young son. Literally, this father (who was clearly in his twenties) was inches from the baby's face, studying every centimeter of his tiny, sleeping son with an expression of the utmost adoration. I was struck by the thought that THIS is what God thinks of His children. It was a holy moment, indeed.

I'm so sad we didn't get to hang out longer. It was all so rushed! Hope y'all had a great time!

So fun.

Next time, you and I are going to practice our "new moves" before the event.

Maybe I'll unleash my move this Sunday in worship service. Do you think it will be received well?

Oh I wish I could have met you on Sunday night. I met up with some blogging friends, and we just had the best time too! I love what you shared about the man and his baby - you are so right, that is the perfect example of God's love for us. Love it!

Glad ya'll had a great night!

Glad you all had a blast. The dad adoringh his son, would have been worth it all just to watch them.
