I Feel Good

For the last few weeks there has been a gradual, but HUGE difference in how I feel mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually. I feel terrific! Perhaps as good as I have felt in my life. The funny thing is, I don't think I 'look' better...and I don't really care because I feel so much healthier and alive.

I attribute it to four things: Regular exercise, consistent time with God, rest and sunshine. Having children sleeping through the night, gaining significant independence in their play and ability to work things out has enabled the consistency in my schedule. I am not sure I would have been able to work the consistent morning quiet time and working out in before this point in my children's lives, but I really do wish I had tried. It is really amazing the difference it makes. I am snapping less, smiling more, feeling more energetic and up for adventure...it is terrific.

Not that any age or stage is perfect...they each bring their own challenges. (See post below.) But, feeling healthier certainly makes the coping a bit better. I know there are many of you who read this blog who have children the same age as mine or younger. I want to encourage you that there IS light at the end of the diaper changing, on-call all night, sleep-deprived tunnel. There really is!!! Hang in there, sisters!

I haven't commented here in ages (a combination of laziness and lack of anything worthwhile to say), but I have to shout a big "Thank you!!!" for this word of encouragement from you. Our family of a 4-year-old and a 20-month-old was completed when our son was born 3 weeks ago. Frankly, right now my husband and I are struggling just to maintain sanity, much less have regular quiet time or exercise time. I've tried to tell myself that the proverbial light is at the end of this tunnel, but it's much more convincing coming from you! :-)

I'm glad you're enjoying this time and feeling so well! I hope the rest of your summer -- and the rest of your life, for that matter -- continues this way!

Thanks for the encouragement!! I am far from seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with the birth of #4 coming next month! It will be years before I am out of the diapers and sporadic sleep stage! But, I know that it will come, and there are so many wonderful things about the baby stages, too - like cuddling a newborn!! I can hardly wait to do that one last time!!! Thanks again for the reminder and encouragement that one day life will be somewhat predictable again!!

Thanks for the encouragement!

I hear that age 4 is so much better/easier than age 3...I am really clinging to that...as age 3 has really given us a run for our money!

Thanks for the encouragement. We were on our way out of the trenches here with one 3 yo and 3 almost 2 yo's, but now we have a new challenge for this upcoming year. Just wanted to say how much I enjoy reading your blog! I very often find encouragement here. Thanks!!

Thanks for the encouragement here as well - I was beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel, but just found out #3 in on the way! LOL That'll be 3 kids in under 5 years! LOL I'll (almost, kinda, sorta...OK, not even close, but go with me here) know what a part of what your life is like! LOL

Do I really need to wait two more years to start seeing a light at the end of the tunnel? My trio is two now.

thank you, thank you thank you. i need to hear this on occasion...especially after a day filled with three number 2 clean ups off carpet, a sleepless night for me between the two of them, and whinning galore!
