Yesterday afternoon the children and I took Oreo for her first visit to the veterinarian. She was deemed to be in excellent health, de-wormed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and released. I couldn't help but be taken aback when the vet told me her weight: 2 lbs, 4 oz. My P once weighed that!
Watching my strong, healthy boy giggle and cuddle this wirey little peanut of a kitten--and realizing he was once her size--astounded me. How could it even be possible? I am one grateful Mama!
As for Oreo, she is sweet, but we should have named her Trouble! She has already experimented with many hiding places including my dishwasher, the back of the stand up freezer in my garage and our babysitter's car. All while under very watchful eyes! Yet, when I hear my children giggle with glee as they watch her antics, I am thankful we chose to adopt her. (And it doesn't hurt that there have been no Stuart Little sightings since her arrival either!)

God is so good.
We have a 9 month old mini-schnauzer pup that my 15 yr. old son named "Gunner". I thought that the name was appropriate for a male pup named by a teenage boy. HOWEVER, like your Oreo, his (Gunner's) name should have been ROWDY! He is so cute and I love the little guy, but he is so mischievious.....mercy!
I've been reading your blog (via Boomama) for the past 1 1/2 yrs. You have beautiful children. You are such a wise mother to be so mindful of how rapidly they are growing. My 2 older children are college grads and married. My youngest got his driver's license
2 weeks ago. Sigh! Time has gone by too quickly.
I love the spirit in your writings. God made motherhood a very special blessing, didn't He? God bless.
