For Mother's Day, I received an awesome new lens for my camera. I know VERY little about photography, but I have learned that the right equipment can make anybody look like a better photographer. I should probably go take some classes, but I think the science of doing it right would take away my joy in the art of stumbling into good shots.
Yesterday as I was downloading pictures I had taken, I kept pausing at the photos of my man. He takes my breath away. He really is far more than I could have ever asked for or imagined. He is a godly man that truly adores our family and treats us with love, respect and dignity.
It was then that I realized what I love most about photography is that it requires me to pause and focus on the people I love--to sear those moments into my heart and mind. My eye zooms in on their expressions and notices the composition of the moment.
These are definitely moments I don't want to forget.

I know what you mean. I just got a Nikon D40 and used it for the first time at my 3rd grandchild's 1st b'day weekend before last and WOW! The vivid colors and the way you can zoom in on their faces with the soft focus backgrounds is amazing!
I told my children the other day that THIS generation is going to have the BEST photo histories because of the level of clarity of even the simplest cameras, the ability to store then online, in external storage, on discs that can be given out, etc. And the advent of photobooks is wonderful - we go to Disney World frequently and instead of printing out a ton of photos an trying to get them in albums before I forget which year it was, we've decided to pool ALL our photos and PhotoPass pics from Disney and I make up photo books, order one for ourselves and each family, and we have a wonderful reminder of that lovely time - plus it's fun to go back 20 years and see how they've all changed.
This was beautiful, just beautiful!!!
so...what kind of lense did you get? :)
Hi! I don't remember how I found your blog, but I have to tell you that you and the children are a bright spot in my day! :) I love children, but at this point in my life I'm 31, unmarried, and have no children. I hope the Lord has a Godly husband and children in the future for me, but until then your stories and "mommy reflections" make me laugh and bless my heart. Be encouraged today that your life touches many. Blessings!
So well said. And you certainly have a beautiful family. :)
