First, these Resurrection Eggs are fantastic. The package contains a dozen brightly colored plastic eggs. Each egg has a different symbol inside. There is a also a small guide that gives you a verse and an explanation for each symbol which has facilitated really great conversation (that is age appropriate) in our family regarding the Christian celebration of Easter. I highly recommend them!
Second, Elizabeth sent me this recipe for Easter Story Cookies. I haven't tried it yet but it looks terrific. (While looking at the site, I also found one for Resurrection Buns that looks neat, too.)
Finally, my friend Laurie did this handmade Easter card activity with her children this morning and said it was easy and cute. There is still time to get these in the mail. (Don't peek grandparents, you'll see in your mailbox in a few days.)

My son is just one, so I bought him a couple of board books. Hopefully he will like them enough that we can continue reading them throughout the year, and he can come to understand that way. Hopefully. Maybe?
Thanks for sharing these ideas. I've really been struggling with how to best share the Easter story with my children. I've been wondering about the Resurrection Eggs and whether they'd be age appropriate for my 3 year old. Now I know and will have to put them on my shopping list.

A great book to read with kids is "The Legend of the Easter Egg" by Lori Walburg. We also do a Christian Seder/Passover (lots of info on the internet). The Seder really lends itself to children's participation.
