The Little Man

In order to fully appreciate the humor of this, you need to understand that my little R is very polite and proper. He enunciates his speech like an adult. We often tease that he is a 40 year old man in this 3 1/2 year old body. My husband and I frequently refer to him as Alex P. Keaton, the buttoned up, conservative character from the 80's sitcom Family Ties.

Saturday afternoon when it was clear my little guy was not feeling well, I took him back to our room at camp and let him watch a DVD. He looked up at me with his big brown eyes and said, "Mom, I don't fell ve-wee well."

He stood up and walked towards the bathroom, lifted the lid on the commode and unceremoniously vomitted. There was no screaming, fanfare or drama. The little man just did what he needed to do. After a few minutes he said, "I feel much better now," and returned to watch his video.

Several minutes later he stood up again.
"Are you OK?"
"I think I need to bomit again."
"Do you need any help?"
"No."
I stood outside the door to monitor his activities just in case. I heard what sounded like the sounds of gas.
Suddenly, he appeared at the door and said stoically, "I am OK now, Mom. I didn't bomit. I just needed to make some funny noises with my bottom."

What a great story.

Our friends used to call our son Alex P. Keaton because he was so interested in politics at such an early age. In first grade, he announced he wanted Peter Jennings job so he could talk about the president.

I think that it's great for mom's to have one child (at least!) that handles being sick this well. It does make it a little easier if the vomiting can be done in the toilet and unceremoniously at that! My daughter is an easy sick child, but I still wish we could just avoid illness. I hope everyone is feeling better at your house!

Hilarious! What a cute little man!

They really are funny at this age, aren't they? As my husband commented recently, "You can't pay for entertainment this good!"

Still giggling as I type this one. I had a huge crush on old Alex P. when he was popular.

So glad you survived your weekend and even found a few chuckles in the midst of it.

LOL! I hope all you little ones are doing better. How do you keep from laughing when they say things like that? :-)

Tee- I generally do not do a very good job of stifling the laughter. This was definitely one of those times. :-)

How funny! He and my daughter could write a book! My favorite comment of hers is, "Did you know that a toot is a message?"

Such a fun age!

Oh how precious!

At least he doesn't know the "fart" word yet. It's so nice to see parents that raise their kids to be little gentlemen!

I hope he's feeling better now
