A Glorious Day!

The last 48 hours have been action packed with fun family activities. Thursday afternoon, only R napped, so our sitter stayed home with our napper while Daddy took P and I took K for some quality time. Although the activities were not exciting: car washes, grocery shopping and a trip to Home Depot, the children LOVED the one on one attention. Yesterday afternoon, R was the child who did not nap. Instead, he & Daddy went out to play golf together.
I use the term "play" golf with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek. My hubby did comment that there is nothing better for a poor golfer's ego that to take along a 3.5 year old. Apparently when Daddy hit the ball into the sandtrap R went wild with his applause and enthusiasm, "You got the sand, Daddy. Great job!" When he would step back from the tee for a practice swing, R cried, "Aww. Al-most Daddy. Al-most!"Today was incredibly packed with outdoor activities in our small town. After our weekly Saturday morning breakfast ritual at the Chick-Fil-A we loaded up our trusty choo choo wagon and ventured to a huge chili cook-off. My Mom & Dad came to town for a Saturday morning visit, so they joined us for all the action.Although the chili is terrific, the themes the participants adopt are highly entertaining for the children. There was a Wild West booth complete with stick horse races and bull horns. (Here we are checking them out with BeeBee.)There were cows, jesters, even pirates. This one was a real hit!
P even warmed up to him enough to show off his own pirate face and "Argh!"
After the chili cookoff, we drove downtown to a free carnival for kids. Everyone is finally over their clown phobia!
This event had live music, inflatables and train rides. Have I mentioned that it was absolutely free and the weather was fantastic?

Best of all we got lots of Poppy love...

and BeeBee hugs.

We briefly strolled through a Civil War encampment and re-enactment nearby before a final stop at the bakery for sweet treats. From the look on P's face...and the silence from all three napping today, I'd say we had some fun.

Now I'm off to try and sneak in a quick nap of my own!

My first time here...what a sweet blessing. Your family is so beautiful. My brood is dispersed around the neighborhood (my teenage dtr is changing the oil with her father) and this time alone was just perfect for reading your posts.

I will be back!
