First Day of Preschool 2007

Today the children started a new year of preschool. We have been excitedly anticipating today for weeks and I have not been particularly emotional. The children love their school. I love the structured activity.
As we were having breakfast this morning R said, "Mama, you are gonna miss me today when I'm at school." He brought it up two other times as we went through our morning routine. Is he working my heart or what?

When we got to school this morning and I started walking them up to the building, suddenly the tears came (from me, not them). What is that all about? I think it is the realization that time is marching on...and every milestone, even these early fairly insignificant ones, put the children one step closer to growing up.
They looked bigger and much more confident as they walked in those familiar doors to school. The chatted excitedly as I picked them up this afternoon. P's favorite part was "going on the big slide." K's favorite thing was "the teachers." Despite the fact that R assured me he had a great day, when I asked him for his favorite part he replied flatly, "not anything."

I had many of the same thoughts (and tears) today. Except it was due to the fact that my oldest started high school today. Where does the time go???

Oh girl, I am there. They grow up so quickly. I always thought that was so cliche' when my parents and their friends said it to me, but now it is a different quote altogether. Where does the time go? I love seeing them so independent, good for you, it means you've done a great job girl. They are gonna change the world!!!

they are certainly getting more independent - not even walking side by side, afraid of what waits them.

They are cool kids!

I felt the same way when I took mine to preschool . . . each time the first day rolled around.

It is a precious time, and it is so normal to be nostalgic as it flies by.

They are so sweet!

Aw, honey. I can't imagine how you coped! My oldest and your angels are the same age but we've decided due to our hearts and our finances to keep her home sans preschool. I'd have been a mess. Homeschooling is looking better and better to me! *wink*

The trio looks precious with their backpacks. It's wild- with three you get those triple whammy "passing of the milestones" at one time. Most people get to spread it out. :) Hard for you, I know, sometimes- but what a blessing that they have each other! Thanks for checking on us- I am almost finished with my work summer from ****. -Robin

Joshua will start preschool after Labor Day. It will be his first time to attend school like that, so I am bracing myself. . . I know what you mean. Next year Joshua will be in kindergarten - gone from 8-2:30 everyday. . . Oh, me! I keep telling myself that growing up is a good thing! But, it does make me a little sad or sentimental or both. . .

Love the pics!!

They do look so big! I'm looking forward to preschool starting up after Labor Day; trying to enjoy these last (very hot)days while they're here, but the structure will be good for all of us! Enjoy your quiet (ha!) moments while they are away....

Why is it that growing up is soo hard on us parents? It was everything I could do not to cry as H-bear went away to preschool this year!

I guess I'm a "late bloomer". My tears feel hot & heavy in the college book store of Georgia Southern. Before, I knew I was in "control" of what she did, how she did it, what she saw, ect. It hit me all the sudden that day. Did I do it all right? All I could do at that point was pray with all my might, Lord, let me have done a good job. It's her turn to show Me what I have taught her.
