What I Learned This Weekend Pt. 2

1. There is nothing quite like leaving home to make you yearn for returning. I felt incomplete without my posse. From the time I woke up Sunday morning, all I could think about was hugging my sweet family. I got back into town around 4pm and went straight the pool to find my family. I was dry. They were wet. I did not care. I just wanted to hug them all tight. The best thing about leaving is returning.

2. My husband really is awesome. I returned to a clean house, happy children & laundry that was caught up. There were even tasks completed from his Daddy Do list. He took them out to eat a couple of times solo, went to story time at Barnes & Noble, dressed them in coordinating outfits & spent every afternoon at the pool. The most amazing part is that he had a great attitude about his chance to serve in this way. I could learn a few things from him. :-)

3. There is nothing like getting away to refresh your mind and soul. I was able to spend a good bit of time reading & praying this weekend. What a difference it has made in my attitude today!

4. Old friends are a gift of God. I have not had this much time with Randi since we lived together 6 years ago. I loved being able to spend part of this precious time in her life with her. And her boys? They stole my heart!

5. Three days can make your children seem like they aged 3 months. I truly think they matured a lot this weekend. I cannot cite a specific example. They just seem older.

6. I am absolutely in awe of a God who could have simply died on the cross to save me from my sins and ended the blessing there. Seriously. What more can we really ask of Him after He has given us the ultimate sacrifice of His Son's life? A gift we did NOTHING to earn or deserve. Yet, I get to live this life, loving these precious people and being loved in return. I am blown away.

I don't think it's just because you went away, they do look older in these pictures. And just as precious as always.

You word things so well. As I read the last four posts, I can REMEMBER these same feelings (except for the infertility; I don't want to sound like I know exactly where you've been.) But I do love the way you can put a feeling into such clear thought. Especially about the being willing to serve but not being called. I struggled with that for a long time with homeschooling. That post just sort of helped confirm that just because I CAN AND WOULD doesn't mean that I'm SUPPOSED TO. I love your blog.

Love this post. Never thought of #6 in that way but dying truly could and should have been enough yet he continues to bless. Thanks for that reminder.

I completely agree with it all!! Sweet post! Some Fridays I send my older two to the babysitter so that I can get a little caught up around the house and running errands. Oh, how I miss their chatter when they are gone!!! Life just isn't as fun without them!!

I'm so glad that you had a good weekend and returned safely home to your sweet family!!!

Sounds like you have an awesome husband! He has to get extra props for the coordinating outfits because that would have been the last thing I would have ever thought a Dad at home with little ones would be able to pull off :o) I bet you are sooo glad you are back but also glad you got to visit with your friend and her little ones!!!

Daddy's do more than we usually give them credit for! It may not be the way I do things, but who says it has to be?

Time away is great for the soul, but returning to the nuthouse (that would be MY house) is so much sweeter! The things that I needed to get away from are what I crave when I return!
