This morning R slept an hour later than the other 2 children. Since they had already had breakfast, I let them watch a video while R enjoyed his waffle and banana. He is my little chatterbox that likes to provide non-stop commentary, so we had quite a lively conversation.
"Mommy, God likes it when I eat my bweck-fest because it gives me en-or-gee and it helps me gwow so I can be big like you and Daddy." (said all in one breath)
"Your right, R. You are going to grow and grow. God has big plans for your life. There are things that only you will be able to do, you know?"
"Yep, I am gonna grow up to be a Daddy for the kids at the Home (a group home for children in DFCS custody we are involved with) who don't have any Daddys. I am gonna love dem and play with dem and be their Daddy 'cuz they don't have any Daddys."
Then, just as my heart was overflowing with the excitement of what a compassionate child my son was growing to be, marvelling at the depth of his wisdom and maturity, he said the following...
"Yep, when I gwow up I am going to be a fish that swims in a bowl and a Daddy!"
Is he 3 or what?

So cute. Love that story. My 3 yr old does the same thing. Just when you think you are having a thought provoking conversation they throw some crazy off the wall comment out there. I love it.
