Fridays are my favorite day of the week. Mondays & Wednesdays we have Mothers Morning Out. Tuesday mornings I have Bible Study at the church. Thursday we have Kindermusik class. So, I intentionally keep Fridays set apart with no planned activities or babysitter unless it is absolutely necessary. The result is a full, unrushed day with the children--no particular place to be, no real agenda--just TIME together.
The kiddos call it our "ad-benture" day. We have been known to decide in the morning to take a daytrip to the zoo...or stay in out PJs until noon. I am such a planner, that Fridays are a nice exercise for me.
This morning, by 10 am we had already been on a walk, gone to the playground, had Cheetos outside on the backstairs, watched the "garbage mans," changed one set of filthy clothes, made an "awangement" with some daises leftover from a party we hosted last night and been through 3 entire bottle of bubbles. I can only imagine what the rest of the day holds.
Thank you, God, for continually reminding me of the importance of prioritizing plain ole time together building relationships with my children over activity-ing them to death. I know as they grow older the temptation will only increase. As with most things in life, it is all about balance. May I never forget the richness of just allowing life to unfold--and lessons being learned the old fashioned way, as opposed to a class I pay money for.
UPDATED TO ADD:
So, after I posted this morning we had a REAL "abenture." I took the children for a fine culinary experience. Today was the day they were introduced to Krystal pups and corndogs. I really want to raise civilized, sophisticated children...and nothing says "klassy" like Krystal. The truth is, I was exhausted from my morning as "cruise director" and didn't want to be responsible for lunch. Additionally, I love cheese Krystals...and if the children started demanding to go to Krystal, I might get them a little more often. :-)

I struggle with this too. It is awesome to have one day that is just "nothing" day and let it unfold into whatever the Lord sees fit for you to enjoy.
Hope the rest of your Friday is full of fun. ;)

I hope that ya'll are having a fun time.
I miss and love you,
Aunt Boo
Sounds like so much fun!!! The little ones are growing up quickly... and soon they'll be in school and you'll have all your mornings to yourself... I;ve started friendship fiday's at my blog with the mister linky and maybe you'll consider writing more about your friendship with your children and their friendships and share with us?!
I tend to do the same thing on Fridays. It's just nice to know you can take it easy if you want to. And I love Krystals too! But my kids hate pickels, and I always forget to order them without which means I have to go through each one and pick them off.
Hope you have a great weekend!
I came across your blog about a month ago and find it so refreshing. Since I am not a mother (yet) I don't know a great deal about motherhood. I do, however, have many ideas and plans for what type of mom I would like to be for my children. I love reading your post because you make motherhood seem so amazing. One day I hope to have Fun Fridays with my children.
I love a good day off at home or whatever... just being together and not rushing!!
What's Krystal??
Sounds like a fun day!! Krystal's sounds great. I am with you, I love cheese krystals.
LOL! For those of you who don't know what a Krystal is...It is a fast food chain that serves inexpensive, small, square "burgers" on steamed buns. The contents of the patties are questionable...but they are delicious in a greasy, fast food way!
