Many tribes have their own languages, understood only by those who live there. The same is true in families. After the post about Fix Furdy, I was prompted to record a few other phrases that are unique to our family for posterity.
"There's too many wooms"
Used by K & R when they don't want to share my lap. Somewhere the phrase, "not enough room" got turned around in their little heads and it has stuck. "No you can't get up here, R. There's too many wooms."
"I get a mag-a-net!"
Used by all 3 when they do something praise-worthy and they want a magnet on our blessing chart to signify their good behavior. "I share my toy-ees, Mommy. I get a mag-a-net."
"Da packages man"
Yes, UPS would be much easier to say, but at our house he is "da packages man." Since shopping is not exactly pleasant with 6 little hands grabbing everything in their path, we see a lot of him. We probably ought to just start calling him by name.
"Squished like a bug" (This one is going to make your respect for/confidence in my parenting ability drop several levels, I promise) In an attempt to instill great fear in my children about the danger of cars, streets and parking lots, I needed an analogy they could understand. Now, they hold hands without incident warning each other that if they are not careful, "dat car squish you like a bug."
"Daddy Sausage" and its corollary "Mommy sausage"
A few months ago, Kroger stopped carrying the type of Jimmy Dean heat-and-serve sausage the kiddos enjoy. When I was forced to purchase a new kind, R protested and refused to eat it until I told him it was sausage that Daddy liked to eat. It immediately was labelled "Daddy Sausage" from that point on, even though Daddy has never consumed any. Last week, I bought some new frozen sugary french toast sticks. As I placed them on the children's plates for breakfast, R announced, "Look! It's Mommy Sausage!"

Jen -- your kids must be so fun to listen to. Isn't it hilarious the things they say?
I read your blog often and enjoy the little peak into your life with your sweet children.
Please tell me more about your blessing chart. I have twin boys and this sounds like something that I could use.
This is so cute! I've been following your blog now for about a year I guess... but, haven't had the nerve to post. I'm studying education and I just love reading about real families and real children. My heart grows a size every time I read your posts! You are blessed... your children are beautiful.
