Day 27: Passion for the Lord

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. Psalm 42:1 (NIV)

I often wonder what people who stumble across this little blog must think about its Jesus Freak author. :-) I am reminded of C. S. Lewis' quote from Mere Christianity:
"A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic - on the level with a man who says he is a poached egg - or he would be the devil of hell. You must take your choice. Either this was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us."

Lord, may my children investigate You and find that You are who You say You are--then may they follow you passionately all the days of their life. You are worthy of our worship and our praise. I sing with the hymnist,
Take their lives, and let them be consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take their moments and their days; let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take their hands, and let them move at the impulse of Thy love.
Take their feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee.
Take their voice, and let them sing always, only, for my King.

Take their lips, and let them be filled with messages from Thee.
Take their silver and their gold; not a mite would they withhold.
Take their intellect, and use every power as Thou shalt choose.
Take their will, and make it Thine...

May they be ever, only, all for Thee.
Amen.

This was beautiful and the praise song had me in tears. These devotions, and your personal prayers for your children, have been lovely. Thanks so much for sharing them.

That is so neat that you used Lewis' quote. We just discussed this in our Bible Study this am. Thanks for writing out your prayers for your children. It has been very encouraging to me!

Love that song. And, I have never thought of praying it for my children like that. Beautiful. I love it. Thanks for sharing that! And, I love that quote, too!

In answer to your question about the Nooma video, it was the new one "Breathe." And, there was nothing particularly tear-jerkerish in the video. Just a thought he presented that was beautiful to me!

I stumbled across your blog after seeing the fabulous blog design that Susie did for you (I'm researching for my own new design!) and I must say that I found a treasure, indeed!
I love reading about your desire for life completely yielded to our Lord and that you are raising your beautiful children along that same path.
I have marked you as a favorite read - you are a blessing.
